Presentations and Annual Public Meeting

  • Event – Live presentation; online

Join us for our annual Ignite! evening and Annual Public Meeting.

The Ignite! motto is "Enlighten us, but make it quick". Speakers are each given five minutes to talk about their area of work.

Hear from museum President and CEO Meg Beckel about the museum's activities and programs during a year affected by COVID-19.

See presentations by our experts on this year's theme, the Arctic—an area of leadership for the museum through its Centre for Arctic Knowledge and Exploration.

Get insights into the importance of some of the museum's Arctic collections—among them seaweed, polar bears and vascular plants—in addressing questions about biodiversity, ecology and climate change.

Follow a recent botany field expedition and learn about the museum's northern archeology research. See a tribute to Richard (Dick) Harington, Ph.D., O.C., who built the museum's world-class collection of ice-age animals.

The event will end with a question-and-answer session.

Presentations will be in English and French, according to the speaker. Simultaneous translation will be provided during the presentations.

Cost: Free. Register in advance to access the event online.
