International Polar Bear Day

February 27

A polar bear's life cycle is closely tied to sea ice. Polar bears live on sea ice throughout the Arctic for most of the year. They return to land if forced to by melting ice in summer, or to deliver their cubs.

As the climate warms, sea ice is melting earlier and forming later, reducing the amount of time that polar bears (Ursus maritimus) have access to their main food source: seals.

Let's get social - Beautiful and thought-provoking posts!

In honour of International Polar Bear Day we have curated a selection of the best polar bear pictures on social media.
