Procedure

This workshop comprises the four following activities: the difference between rocks and minerals, the properties of minerals, the rock cycle, and the use of minerals in our everyday lives.

Students have the opportunity to manipulate mineral specimens from the Canadian Museum of Nature's collections. They perform scientific experiments to better understand mineral properties while completing an identification key.

Students learn to work in a team while sorting a bag of rocks by their rock type (sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous).

They have fun while discovering the various uses of minerals in our everyday lives.
