Message from the Chair of the Canadian Museum of Nature, Florence Minz—Response to Budget 2012
Ottawa, March 29, 2012—On behalf of the Canadian Museum of Nature and Board of Trustees, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Government of Canada, which today announced that the museum will not be affected by the deficit-reduction action plan.
We would also like to thank the government, in particular the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, for his commitment to the museum and for recognizing the important contributions that the museum makes in preserving Canada's natural-history record. A raised limit for the Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program will also allow for increased opportunities for the museum, enabling us to attract internationally acclaimed treasures to Canada.
The museum will continue to encourage a responsible and sustainable way forward while continuing to fulfill the museum's mandate.
